Zone 9b Coastal Planting Calendar
Thirty-eight vegetables and twelve herbs and cut flowers, each one showing the months to sow in place, start indoors, or set out transplants — plus a variety note for every single one. Four sheets, US Letter, landscape. Print the ones you’ll actually use.
- Sheet 1 — Vegetables, artichoke to leeks
- Sheet 2 — Vegetables, lettuce to watermelon
- Sheet 3 — Herbs and cut flowers (with room to plan your year)
- Sheet 4 — The gardening year, month by month
If you only print one, make it sheet 4. It’s the whole year in twelve short lists, and it’s the one that ends up taped inside my cupboard door.
A note on the timing: it’s adapted from UC Master Gardener coastal planting guidance for our region. Your own microclimate matters more than any chart — a sunny inland pocket runs two or three weeks early, and a deep redwood-shaded bed runs two or three weeks late. Use it as a starting point, then write on it.
